About Keeley
After taking up yoga in 2013 to help with back pain I found a practice that not only eased the physical pain, but also greatly helped my mental wellbeing. At the time I was working as a commercial lawyer which gave me many wonderful skills, but it was not something I was passionate about. I left law in 2016 and pursued my interests in wellbeing, completing a psychology MSc with distinction in 2017. During this time I also volunteered at Mind BLMK as a peer support worker and mentor.
In 2017 I began work as an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS' Improving Access to Psychological Therapies team whilst considering a career as a clinical psychologist. During this work I could see that yoga as a therapeutic and holistic intervention would greatly compliment these talking therapies. As such I qualified as a chair yoga teacher in 2018 with Accessible Chair Yoga and conducted research with this company into chair yoga in elderly care homes. I qualified as a 200-hour yoga teacher in 2019 with Paula Ahlberg and became a certified Accessible Yoga Teacher in 2019, and I am a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals. I completed my training as a yoga therapist with the Minded Institute in 2022 and have since been employed as a supervisor there. I also trained in perinatal mental health with Dr Francoise Freedman in 2022.

For several years I taught yoga/chair yoga in classes and one to ones, to my local community and to Mind BLMK's service users. I am now excited to be offering tailored yoga therapy sessions.

Things I do to look after my own wellbeing include daily breath and movement breaks based on yoga techniques, exercise classes at a local gym (a favourite involving boxing!), getting out in nature, a short daily meditation, cold water immersion (in the sea whenever I can), taking pictures, playing with my toddler, and walking my dog.
